Malaysia records lowest-ever number of daily COVID-19 cases

Malaysia has achieved a milestone, after the country recorded its lowest-ever number of daily COVID-19 infections.
Health Director General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says the 16 new cases reported today means that the total number of infections now stands at 5,223.
Of the total, only 1,400 are active cases.
The death toll remains at 109, after no new deaths were reported.
EMCO for Selayang Baru, Gombak extended
The Enhanced Movement Control Order for Selayang Baru, Gombak has been extended.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says this is to allow health authorities to conduct COVID-19 screening on residents in the area.
Meanwhile, the EMCO period for Pusat Bandar Utara, and the Selayang Wholemarket area in KL, has ended.
Police to take legal action against CMCO violators
Police will no longer warn or advise those caught defying SOPs under the Conditional Movement Control Order.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says PDRM have been given the authority to take legal action against violators throughout this period.
He also warned that the govt may revert to the original MCO if people continue to defy current SOPs.
