Probe to find the source of new clusters at Immigration detention centers

May 24, 2020

The Health Ministry is investigating the source of the Covid-19 outbreak, at both the Bukit Jalil and Semenyih immigration detention centers.

This, after clusters of cases were detected at these two facilities in recent days.

Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah is not ruling out the possibility that one or two of the detainees were not screened, or the virus was not detected during the incubation period.

Meanwhile, positive cases from the Semenyih detention center made up 21 of the 48 new infections reported yesterday.

Abide by SOP's this Raya

The Prime Minister is urging Malaysians to abide by Covid-19 SOP’s at all times, as Muslims celebrate Hari Raya.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, in his Aidilfitri speech, admits that Raya is being celebrated a bit differently this year, but the extra precautions are for our own good.

This, as the Inspector General of Police said that the best way to celebrate Raya this year is to just stay at home in order to minimise contact with others.

Roadblocks to continue

Meanwhile, police will continue with their traffic roadblocks, even though it’s the first day of Hari Raya today.

Bukit Aman’s Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department say they may even increase the number of roadblocks if necessary, to prevent unauthorised inter-state travel.

Authorities say over 1,600 vehicles were ordered to turn back on Friday, for attempting to cross state lines without the necessary permission.
