Malaysia declares state of emergency

A state of emergency has been declared until August 1st, to combat the country’s COVID-19 outbreak.

PM Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says no elections will be held during this time.

He says the General Election will take place once it is safe to do so.

Meanwhile, Tan Sri Muhyiddin has warned that stern action will be taken against anyone interfering in efforts to fight COVID-19.

All Malaysians have been urged to remain calm and to be united in these trying times.

Another record high in new COVID-19 cases

Malaysia has reported another record daily number of COVID-19 cases, with 3,309 new infections.

Selangor recorded the highest tally with 1,007 cases, followed by 442 in Johor and Sabah 409.

The death toll has risen to 559 after 4 more patients succumbed to the virus.

Back-to-school in RMCO and CMCO areas

Its back-to-school next week for students in areas under the Conditional and Recovery MCO.

This is after the Education Ministry said schools in these areas will be allowed to conduct face-to-face lessons.

As for students in areas under the Movement Control Order, only those sitting for major examinations will be allowed to return to school.
