A batch of 62 volunteers have become the first people in the country to receive the Covid-19 vaccination jabs.

They are part of the third phase of clinical trials in Sungai Petani, Kedah.

The volunteers will each receive two jabs and be closely monitored for any adverse effects to the vaccine.

The Health Minister told the MalayMail the government is currently working on revising the Emergency Ordinance to make this happen.

The home surveillance order can currently only be issued by government doctors.

The IGP feels the time has come to increase the fine for those flouting Covid-19 SOP’s.

He says the current one thousand ringgit fine does not appear to be enough of a deterrent, with thousands of summonses issued to errant individuals each week, mainly for not adhering to physical distancing.
