It is now mandatory to check in via the MySejahtera app in areas with high-speed internet access.
The National Security Council says this is to boost contact tracing efforts should any positive Covid-19 cases be linked to a particular premises.
However, areas without internet connection, especially in rural areas, are exempted from this requirement.
Starting today, customers will be able to dine-in at restaurants, but this will be limited to 2 people per table, with physical distancing of at least 1 metre.
Putrajaya has also agreed to allow more businesses in the retail sector such as clothingstores and accessory shops to resume operations.
The quarantine period exemption was not timed to coincide with PM Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s return from an official visit to Indonesia.
The PM’s office dismissed such claims and clarified that he was in fact handed the home surveillance order and given the observation wristband to wear as soon as he arrived.
