The Health Minister’s 6-year-old son did receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The nurse responsible for administering the jab at the weekend stressed that she followed SOPs set under the PICKids program.

She was responding to allegations that Khairy Jamaluddin’s son was injected with an empty syringe.

Meanwhile, Khairy backed the nurse, saying she was professional when conducting the vaccination.

He says her tactic of not showing his son the needle was effective to help him stay calm during the injection.

Authorities have now received over 24,000 reports of adverse events following immunisation among COVID-19 vaccine recipients.

The National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency says of the total, only some 1,700 cases are reported as serious.

This is equivalent to 27 cases per one million vaccine doses.

Meanwhile, 93% of cases are not serious, with recipients mostly reporting fevers, headaches, and pain at the injection site, among others.

Such recipients are expected to recover within one to two days.

Currently, more than 65.3 million COVID vaccine doses have been given out nationwide.
