'Boosterless' recipients should maintain fully vaxx status

Feb 18, 2022

'boosterless' recipients should still be fully vaccinated

Some experts believe COVID-19 vaccine recipients who have yet to take the booster shot should be allowed to maintain their fully vaccinated status.

The Malaysian Medical Association reckons that people should be given more time to decide on getting the booster jab.

It is confident that Malaysians are aware of the benefits of being vaccinated, and will take the booster eventually.

It also agrees that there is a need for those in high-risk groups to get the booster soon.

Earlier, the Health Ministry said that all vaccinated senior citizens and adult Sinovac recipients must receive the booster before March or risk losing their fully vaccinated status.

'boosterless' recipients should still be fully vaccinated

All pregnant women have been urged to get the COVID-19 vaccine and booster dose.

The Health Ministry reiterated that the jab is effective to prevent severe infection.

It stressed the importance for pregnant women to get the booster, as they are categorised as high-risk individuals.

It noted that so far this year, there have been no COVID deaths involving pregnant women.

This, compared to some 190 fatalities among pregnant women in 2021.

'boosterless' recipients should still be fully vaccinated

The National Recovery Council chairman says the proposal to fully reopen Malaysia’s borders was not a personal decision.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says the move was mutually agreed by members of the council, in a meeting that included the Health Minister.

Earlier this month, the NRC proposed the full reopening of our borders by as early as March, without mandatory quarantine.
