Malaysians have been reminded to adopt a healthy and balanced diet.

The Health Minister says it's because of a rise in the number of diabetic patients in the country.

Khairy Jamaluddin noted that a survey found that over 18% of Malaysians had diabetes in 2019, a 5% increase from 2015.

He also warned that diabetics are up to four times more likely to suffer severe COVID-19 infection.

The Communications and Multimedia Ministry has rubbished a viral website link, which purportedly enables people to check their eligibility and application under the PerantiSiswa program.

It says the link is not from the ministry’s official channel, adding that the program’s application system will start operating from next Friday.

The PerantiSiswa program is aimed at giving out tablets to eligible B40 university students.
