The Prime Minister says the toll exemption will involve the North South Expressway and East Coast Expressway.

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob adds that motorists will also get to enjoy toll discounts of between 30 to 50 percent on other highways.

The toll exemption and discount will begin on April 30th until May 1st, as well as on the 7th until the 8th of May.

Malaysia could see a slight rise in daily COVID-19 infections after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

However, the Health Director General says it would most likely involve asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic cases.

Meanwhile, he advised those planning to return to their hometowns to get themselves tested for the coronavirus.

He also urged unvaccinated individuals to take the COVID vaccine immediately.

Currently, more than 70 million COVID vaccine doses have been given out under the National Immunisation Program.

The Health Minister says the relaxation of COVID-19 SOPs, which will be announced soon, was carefully thought out to ensure the safety of Malaysians.

Khairy Jamaluddin says the government does not want to make any mistakes that could jeopardise all efforts against the coronavirus.

He recently said that an announcement will be made on Wednesday regarding possible updates to some SOPs.
