Three ministries will work together to implement the open payment system for highways nationwide.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub says his ministry will hold engagement sessions with the Works and Transport Ministries, to have the new system in place for the North-South Expressway for a start.

This, as PLUS announced that it will be conducting a trial run for the open payment system this September, at the Penang Bridge and the Butterworth-Kulim Expressway.

The government will propose a new law to enable courts to order child sexual offenders to pay compensation to their victims.

The de-facto Law Minister says this is to cover things like the child’s recovery process including medical costs and counselling.

Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said says the proposal is expected to be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday.

Over eight million doses of various Covid-19 vaccines in the country are set to expire by September.

The Health Ministry revealed the figure when answering questions in parliament about the percentage of available vaccine doses.

It adds that the vaccines can still be administered under the National Immunization Program until their expiry date.

A court in Michigan, USA has ruled that the parents of a teenager who killed four people in a school shooting in 2021 must stand trial for manslaughter.

Prosecutors argue that the parents need to be held accountable for giving their son easy access to a gun, and for ignoring warning signs about his behaviour.
