The number of flood evacuees in the east coast continues to rise.

Kelantan now has over 17,700 victims, while there are more than 10,400 evacuees in Terengganu.

However, in Pahang the number of victims is down to around 125 as of this morning.

There are currently also around 170 evacuees in Sabah and 80-plus victims in Johor.

-

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Agency is urging those in flood-hit areas to follow directives to move to relief centers.

Deputy Director Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus says full cooperation from the public is essential to ensure the evacuation process goes smoothly.

He adds that NADMA is also working closely with agencies like the Civil Defense Force and Social Welfare Department, to ensure the safety and comfort of all those at evacuation centers.

Representatives from some 70 NGO’s gathered in front of the US embassy in KL last night for a six-day rally in solidarity with Palestine.

KL Police, however, have barred participants from setting up tents to ensure the safety of all other high commissions and embassies in the surrounding area.

-

The Cabinet has decided that the Local Government Ministry will now be known as the Housing and Local Government Ministry.

-

And elsewhere, the World Health Organisation is urging all countries to properly plan for future pandemics, saying Covid-19 had exposed weaknesses in the international response to a global health crisis.
