The number of flood evacuees in Terengganu continues to rise, hitting over 6,300 as of this morning.

This, as the situation in neigbouring Kelantan remained mostly unchanged, with over 21 thousand people currently seeking shelter at relief centers there.

The social welfare department’s portal also says there are now some 270 other flood evacuees in various parts of Pahang, Johor and Sabah.

-

Some 800 police and Rela personnel have been deployed, to assist the other agencies involved in flood evacuation and relief operations in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Sabah.

The Home Ministry says assets including boats and four-wheel-drive vehicles have also been mobilized…with the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency also assisting the police operations.

-

In a related development, operations to locate an 11-year-old boy, who’s believed to have drowned after falling into a flooded river in Kuala Terengganu, will resume this morning.

The search had to be called off last night due to poor visibility.

-

Police have opened an investigation paper into the multi-day Palestine solidarity rally in KL, for being organized without a permit.

However, the cops say participants have been generally obeying instructions so far.
