Flooding Worsens In Johor

The flood situation in Johor continues to worsen, with a sharp increase in the number of evacuees there this morning.

According to the Social Welfare Department’s portal…there are currently more than 6,800 victims across Kluang, Kota Tinggi, Segamat, JB, Kulai, and Pontian.

Pahang is also experiencing a rise in evacuees…with more than a thousand now seeking shelter at relief centers in Pekan, Maran and Rompin.

The government is being urged to consider extending the March 31st deadline to register for the PADU database.

The Malaysian Coalition on Ageing told The Star, the early glitches in the system may make some senior citizens hesitant to sign up.

It also indicated that seniors may need more time to go through the sign-up process carefully, in order to avoid accidentally clicking on scam links.

Starting this year, government agencies must produce monthly progress reports.

This compares to the previous practice of submitting these reports either quarterly or annually.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says this is so that the government can gauge the agencies’ performance on a more regular basis and get to work immediately on implementing improvements.

Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s trip to Sabah has nothing to do with politics, amid rumours that he’s there to resolve a growing political storm in the state.

An aide to the Deputy Prime Minister clarified that the trip to KK is an official work visit, during which he will catch up with several UMNO division leaders.
