More than 5.8 million vehicles were on the North-South Expressway during the first 3 days of PDRM's Ops Selamat Chinese New Year operation  

Meanwhile 900,000 vehicles were on the KL-Karak Expressway and East Coast highway.  

This, as Bukit Aman said that some 4,700 accidents were reported during the 3-day period, while there were 46 road fatalities.  

Motorcyclists accounted for 70% of all fatal crashes.  

As such, it reminded all motorists, especially motorcyclists, to prioritise their safety when on the road.

A consumer rights group has called on the Transport Ministry to investigate an express bus operator for overcharging passengers during the Chinese New Year holidays.  

This is after a couple were allegedly charged more than RM800 for a two-way trip from Gopeng, Perak to JB.

The Fire and Rescue Dept says 5 homes were destroyed in a fire that broke out at an apartment building in Cheras.  

Bomba also says their efforts to put out the blaze were hindered by the building's faulty firefighting equipment.
