Cops Probing Johor Bomb Threats

Feb 13, 2024

Bukit Aman police have again reminded motorists to be careful on the road.

Its Traffic Enforcement department said this is especially so for motorcyclists, who continue to account for most fatal accidents.

This, as the department said that 14 fatalities were reported on the 4th day of its Ops Selamat operation, in conjunction with Chinese New Year.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,200 accidents were reported on day 4.

--

Also, cops have urged witnesses of accidents or road rage incidents to give them their dashcam footage.

The Kemaman district police chief says this can help authorities investigate any incident report received during Ops Selamat.

Experts welcomed a proposal to waive income tax for B40 and M40 workers over the age of 60.

An economist at UiTM says it will help them save up for retirement, adding it will also ease their financial burden, including medical costs.

She also pointed out that such a move would have a minimal impact on the country's finances.

This is because senior citizens account for a small portion of the workforce.

The government may need to introduce new legislation to regulate the sale and marketing of honey, to ensure that only genuine honey is sold.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister says several other countries already have such a law, including the UK.

He said this, after a recent report said that 90% of honey in the Malaysian market is fake.

The minister adds that his officials will investigate the claim, and discuss the issue with the Ministries of Health, and Agriculture and Food Security.
