Nearly half of Malaysians who tried online dating have experienced stalking or abuse.  

According to a survey by online security firm Kaspersky, one-third of respondents said they were subjected to some form of online abuse from current or previous partners. 

Others experienced things like unwanted emails, having their photos of videos taken without consent, and having spyware installed on their devices. 

Meanwhile over 40% of respondents admitted to checking the social media accounts of people they have started dating, as a form of due diligence.

MetMalaysia says 3 areas up north were under a level-1 heat alert yesterday. 

This, after they reported temperatures of between 35-37 degrees Celsius for three consecutive days    

The affected areas are Seberang Perai Utara, Penang; and Langkawi and Yan in Kedah.

Meanwhile, authorities say the Timah Tasoh dam in Perlis has enough water reserves to meet demand for the next three months.  

This, amid the current hot spell in the northern Peninsular, due to the effects of El Nino.

According to the Statistics Department, Malaysia's population rose by 2% in the 4th quarter of last year, 33.7 million.  

Citizens accounted for just over 30 million of the total.  

The department adds that currently, there are 110 males for every 100 females in the population.
