Remand For Man Who Torched A Cop Car

A p-hailing rider will be remanded today, after he allegedly set fire to a police vehicle and posted about it on social media. 

This, after he was arrested in Damansara Perdana yesterday. 

According to the Petaling Jaya police chief, the suspect tested positive for drugs, but has no criminal record.  

He adds that based on initial investigations; the suspect merely wanted to go viral.

Tax collections by the Inland Revenue Board hit a record-high last year.  

According to the IRB, it collected RM183.3 billion in 2023, which is up by nearly 4.5% compared to the previous year.  

The IRB’s CEO hailed the achievement, adding that every ringgit will help ensure the country’s development and stability. 

He adds that for 2024, the IRB is targeting collections of around RM197 billion.

The Alliance For A Safe Community has called on the police force to update its recruitment and training modules 

Its chairman, Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye says the revision is necessary, due to recent high-profile cases of police misconduct.  

He adds that any modules should emphasis good values, integrity and professionalism.

Police in Ipoh are reportedly investigating a man accused of extorting a teacher who allegedly molested his 14-year-old daughter.  

Cops say the teacher had lodged a report, claiming the father demanded money to keep the case quiet.  

Meanwhile, the teacher has been arrested under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act.

Separately, police in Sarawak have arrested 4 suspects for criminal investigation, after they allegedly threatened their local MP.  

Cops say they were angry that the MP only gave them RM5 angpow packets during a Chinese New Year event.
