The government plans to create a system for news owners and content creators to lodge complaints when their content is used without permission.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil says this is in response to rising cases of news material being uploaded onto other websites, resulting in the information being mis-interpreted.

He adds that copying news not only goes against journalistic ethics, but could also lead to other issues as well.

-

Separately, Fahmi says there are now more than 10 million subscribers to 5G services, which translates to an adoption rate of just under 30 percent.

-

More than 14 thousand investment fraud cases have been reported in the country over the past five years.

Bukit Aman’s Commercial Crimes Department says these involved losses amounting to over 1.3 billion ringgit.

It says this high figure is why the cops have been working closely with the Securities Commission to combat such crimes and create more public awareness.

-

The Higher Education Ministry is looking into setting up a dedicated polytechnic for the country’s first Artificial Intelligence program.

Discussions to collaborate over the matter have already been held with a university in Ibaraki, Japan, which is one of that country’s leading institutes with an AI research center.

-

The Prime Minister has revealed that Malaysia recorded approved investments of over 329 billion ringgit last year…which is the highest in the country’s history.

-

All civil servants in Grade 56 and below, including contract staff, will receive the government’s two thousand ringgit early incentive payment today.
