Pokok Sena in Kedah is now under a level two heatwave alert.

The area can expect temperatures of between 37-40 degrees Celsius for three consecutive days.

Meanwhile, KL and Petaling Jaya are now on the list of 21 other areas that are under a level one alert…with maximum temperatures of 35 to 37 degrees.

The other localities are in Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Sabah and Sarawak.

The EPF is expected to make an announcement next month about the new flexible Account 3.

The announcement will include details about the withdrawal mechanism and flexibility for contributors.

The Finance Ministry also emphasised that the government is not looking at granting any more targeted withdrawals, because this will only worsen the problem of insufficient EPF savings.

The Finance Ministry says the government expects to collect revenue of up to 700 million ringgit a year, from the soon-to-be implemented Luxury Goods Tax.

It says about 200 million should come for the new Low Value Goods Tax in the first year, since its implementation in January.

Police have arrested a senior citizen, as part of a probe into the fatal shooting of a special branch officer in Kedah.

The cop was killed during an operation against encroachment and illegal hunting in the Ulu Muda Forest Reserve.
