Expanded SST Starts Next Month

The Finance Ministry says the expanded Sales and Services Tax will come into effect on July 1st.  

A 5-10% sales tax will be imposed on non-essential goods, while basic necessities will remain at 0%. 

Meanwhile, the service tax will be expanded to cover rent, leases, construction, financial services, private healthcare, and education.

MCMC says users cannot choose to opt out of its mobile phone data collection exercise.   

It reassured that the data gathered from telcos is anonymised, meaning that it cannot be used to identify or trace specific individuals.

Rapid Rail says services along the Kelana Jaya LRT line are back to normal 

This, after it fixed a technical issue that caused a disruption between the Pasar Seni and Bangsar stations this morning.

Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos has announced that he is now cancer free after undergoing intensive treatment.  

Previous reports said the Sungai Besar UMNO chief had been battling lung cancer, which also spread to his brain.
