Road At UPSI Crash Site Was In Good Condition

Jun 11, 2025

road at upsi crash site was in good condition

The Public Works Department says the road surface and safety features at the site of the fatal UPSI bus crash were in good condition.

In fact, all essential road safety elements, such as guardrails and signboards were properly installed and well maintained while there were also no potholes.

Meanwhile, the Transport Ministry says the bus in question was not fitted with passenger seatbelts, since it was manufactured seven years before seat belt installation became mandatory for new buses.

The ministry acknowledged that this is a problem and assured that it's looking into proposals to make seatbelt use compulsory on all express buses, regardless of when they were built.
