Acting Chief Justice Appointed

Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Hasnah Mohamad Hashim has been appointed acting Chief Justice following the retirement of Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat.

She will now exercise the powers and perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice, until the position is filled.

Tun Tengku Maimum retired yesterday, after reaching the mandatory age of retirement for judges.

Cops are currently hot on the trail of the suspects behind the recent shooting outside a restaurant in Brickfields.

According to KL police, they’ve identified the suspects, all of whom are on the run.

They add that the shooting appears to be gang-related.

Separately, KL police have arrested two men for allegedly threatening a driver with a fake gun, following a traffic accident in Taman Desa this week.

Initial investigations show the fake pistol was bought on TikTok by one of the suspects.

In another development…police have recorded statements from three individuals in connection with the fatal boat capsize incident in Pulau Perhentian last week.

The remaining survivors are also expected to be called in soon.

Malaysia and Indonesia are set to resume their annual consultations later this month to discuss key bilateral issues.

The last such consultation between the two neighbours was held in 2017.

Hip-hop mogul Sean Diddy Combs has been found not guilty of sex trafficking and racketeering…although he was found guilty of two lesser charges of transporting women for prostitution.

Combs was also denied bail while he awaits sentencing in October…where he faces up to 20 years in prison.
