family of 6 dies after car plunges into river

Authorities have confirmed the identities of 6 people who died after their car plunged into a river in Kedah recently.  

This, after relatives confirmed that they were a family that had been missing since Saturday.  

According to police investigations, it's believed that the family's car had lost control and plunged into a river near Jitra.  

So far, cops believe that no other vehicles were involved.  

The family was reported missing after failing to return from a relative's home.

The Selangor govt says it is taking several measures to deal with mental health issues among school students.  

This, as a recent survey revealed that around a thousand secondary students in the state have shown early signs of being at high risk for depression.

As of this afternoon, three areas nationwide were under MetMalaysia's level 1 heat alert – Kuala Kangsar and Kampar, Perak and Machang, Kelantan.  

A level 1 alert is issued when an area records maximum temperatures of between 35-37 degrees Celsius for at least three consecutive days.

The Education Ministry has been urged to set up a special committee to deal with the long-standing issue of heavy teacher workloads.  

The National Union of the Teaching Profession says currently, nearly half a million teachers are still burdened with heavy workloads, after being piled on with tasks that are not related to their core responsibilities.
