There is growing awareness among Malaysians about banking scams.

According to a recent survey by two local banking groups…nine out of ten people in the country actively read scam-related alerts.

It also found that 92 percent of users recognize the risk of installing unsolicited files on their phones…while 85 percent could identify fake SMS messages.

The government is not yet ready to implement the Unexplained Wealth Order, despite several proposals to do so.

The Finance Ministry says the matter needs to be carefully studied first, to avoid any unintended consequences.

An Unexplained Wealth Order is a legal tool to compel individuals to explain the source of their wealth, when there is reasonable suspicion that these assets were obtained illegally.

The government is currently studying the feasibility of finishing secondary schooling at the age of 16.

The Higher Education Minister says this will allow students to advance more efficiently, especially in fields like TVET and STEM that require early exposure.

He adds that the relevant ministries are now gathering feedback, to ensure the move can be implemented holistically.

There is a proposal for Indonesia to send its nurses to work in Malaysia…to help us overcome our manpower shortage in the medical sector.

The Republic’s Consul General in Johor Bahru says this can be a win-win situation…since Malaysia needs more nurses, while Indonesia has an excess workforce in the field.

All driving institutes nationwide are now authorized to conduct registrations for the JPJ’s e-ID, which is required for accessing the MySIKAP public portal and the MyJPJ app.
