Improvements Mooted For Judiciary

Aug 06, 2025

improvements mooted for judiciary

Malaysia's new top judge has outlined a series of initiatives to improve the judiciary.

Chief Justice Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh says this includes measures to clear the backlog of pending court cases.

He adds that mobile courts will soon serve remote areas in the Peninsular, similar to services introduced for Sabah and Sarawak.

These mobile courts can help handle minor offences, birth registrations, and other essential legal matters.

The recent KLIA Aerotrain disruption was NOT due to any mechanical failures.

The Transport Minister says instead, it was caused by a software bug, that was fixed in around 15 minutes.

He adds that such system interruptions are not uncommon in large-scale automated operations, especially when they involve complex software.

The Works Ministry says the planned Multilane Fast Flow will have systems in place to detect toll evaders, using RFID tags and license plate readers.

It adds that those who fail to pay up could face penalties, including being barred from renewing their road tax.
