No More Aftershocks Expected

There are not expected to be any more aftershocks, following the recent mild earthquake in Johor.
Met Malaysia’s deputy director of operations Ambun Dindang tells us, the one that occurred shortly after the first quake on Sunday, is likely to be the last.
He adds that the agency will also keep a close eye on the country’s 80 earthquake monitoring stations, six of which are located in Johor.

Meanwhile, no damage to public infrastructure has been detected in the area where the Johor earthquake occured.
Authorities say checks were conducted on bridges, flyovers and dams within a five kilometer radius of the epicenter.

The Dewan Rakyat has passed a new bill to expand and improve public access to the legal aid system
The de-facto Law Minister says this is to ensure the system is more inclusive, and includes the provision of online legal advice services.

Drone operations will be strictly prohibited in the airspace where rehearsals are being conducted for the Merdeka Day flypast.
The Civil Aviation Authority says rehearsals will be conducted in the morning from today until Friday…during which the airspace will be temporarily closed off to other aircraft.
