Safety Audits For Schools

The Education Ministry is stepping up efforts to improve school safety.

As such, all schools nationwide have been instructed to conduct safety audits, following several recent cases of students falling at boarding schools.

Meanwhile, inspectors must submit weekly reports, which will then be reviewed to determine what further action can be taken.

The ministry has also instructed state and district education departments to conduct surprise inspections to better monitor conditions.

This, as the ministry investigates the incident where a Form Three student reportedly fell from the third floor of a school dormitory in Selangor, leaving him in critical condition.

Authorities will also take into account possible elements of bullying, fighting, or other contributing factors.

The Home Ministry adds that nearly 12 thousand arrests were also made during this period.
