govt sets up anti-bullying task force

A joint govt task force is being set up to tackle the issue of student bullying. 

Govt spokesman Datuk Fahmi Fadzil says the committee will be chaired by the Law and Institutional Reform Minister, and will comprise various ministries and agencies.  

It's been tasked with coordinating and revising SOPs on student bullying.  

It will also consider several proposals, such as establishing a dedicated anti-bullying tribunal.

12 people have been detained to help police investigations, after a Form 3 student fell from a school dormitory in Sabak Bernam, Selangor earlier this week.  

The state Menteri Besar says one of them is believed to be directly linked to the incident.  

He also urged people to give the police space to conduct their investigations. 

The 15-year-old is still in hospital, receiving treatment for serious head injuries.

Lawyers representing the family of UTM Palapes cadet Syamsul Haris has called on the Attorney General to order an inquest into his death.  

They say an inquest is necessary to help uncover the truth of his death, which happened while he was undergoing training last month. 

Meanwhile Syamsul will have a second autopsy tomorrow, after his remains were exhumed earlier today.

Paetongtarn Shinawatra says she accepts the verdict of the Thai Constitutional Court, which dismissed her as the country's prime minister for ethics violations.  

This, following leaked phone conversation with former Cambodian leader Hun Sen at a time of high tensions amid a border dispute between the two countries.  

Paetongtarn is the 5th Thai PM in two decades to be removed from office by the constitutional court.
