rm50mil in sara aid disbursed on first day

The Finance Ministry and MyKasih have issued an apology, for the delays in processing purchases using the 100 ringgit SARA assistance.

They admitted that the system had been unable to cope with the exceptionally high number of transactions on the first day yesterday.

They add that a technical team is already working on resolving the issue.

Meanwhile, the Ministry says more than 50 million ringgit was disbursed under the SARA program as of last night.

Another mild earthquake hit Johor again yesterday.

According to the Met Department, the 2.9 magnitude tremor occurred near Batu Pahat just before 2pm.

It was the seventh earthquake to hit the state in recent days.

In other news…police have remanded a tanker truck driver who is believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel before crashing into a motorcyclist near Kajang.

Dashcam footage of the incident has since gone viral on social media.

The Sabah government says its considering naming the state’s proposed new anti-bullying law after the late Zara Qairina.

Police have arrested a 41-year-old woman for attempting to embrace the Sultan of Perak during the state-level National Day parade in Ipoh yesterday.

The Malaysian Embassy in Indonesia is urging out citizens in Jakarta to avoid all areas affected by the ongoing demonstrations in the city.

And, at least 20 people have been killed while more than 100 others were injured after a magnitude 6 earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan.
