BUDI MADANI RON95: What You Need To Know

Sep 22, 2025

budi madani ron95: what you need to know

The govt has announced the details of the RON95 Petrol Subsidy rationalisation – including when it will start.

The Finance Ministry says the targeted subsidy system, called BUDI MADANI RON95 will start on Sept 30th for all eligible recipients.

However, some groups will enjoy lower petrol prices a few days earlier

The Police and Armed Forces personnel can start buying cheaper petrol from the 27th, followed by Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah recipients a day later.

The BUDI95 scheme allows ALL Malaysians with a valid driver's license to pay a subsidised price of RM1.99 per litre.

Non-Malaysians and large companies will pay the market price of around RM2.60 per litre.

The PM says similar to the recent one-off SARA assistance, you don't have to register or sign up for anything to be eligible.

To enjoy the subsidised price, you'll need to present your MyKad each time you want to fill up.

You can either have it scanned at the payment counter or at the pump.

You also have the option to use E-Walets or the respective mobile apps of petrol companies.

You just need to verify your MyKad on these apps once.

The govt also confirmed that you can only buy up to 300 litres of petrol at the subsidised price per month.

However, e-hailing drivers will be exempted from this ceiling, and further details will be announced later.

Because of the new system, the Home Ministry has reminded Malaysians to make sure that their MyKad chips are in working order.

Those with faulty chips can get them replaced for free from tomorrow until Oct 7th.

Meanwhile, the JPJ says its offices will open on weekends until the end of next month, to give that those with expired driving licenses more time to renew them.
