UNICEF: Children Should Feel Safe In School

Oct 15, 2025

UNICEF.pngNo child should feel unsafe in school.

UNICEF says it's deeply concerned over several recent violent incidents in Malaysian schools.

As such, it's urging authorities to implement more violence prevention programs, stronger support for parents and caregivers, and more effective reporting and response mechanisms.

The agency also slammed those circulating videos and images of the incidents, as well as the children's personal details on social media.

It explained that such acts risk worsening their trauma and also violates their privacy.

In a related development, the police are working with the MCMC to remove photos of the victim and suspect in the recent stabbing case at a secondary school in Bandar Utama.

Cops explained that it's because both individuals are underage, making it illegal to circulate their images under Malaysian law.

Earlier, the commission urged the public to refrain from sharing any content related to the incident out of respect for the privacy of the victim's family.

And Malaysians with locally registered vehicles working in Singapore can apply for the Budi95 petrol subsidy starting tomorrow.

The Transport Ministry says applicants must be Malaysian citizens, hold a valid Singapore Driving Licence, and have a valid employment permit there.
