pm's former polsec arrested

The PM's former senior political secretary is expected to be remanded tomorrow.  

This, after MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed the arrest of Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin and two others, to assist in a corruption investigation. 

Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar announced his resignation earlier this week.

At last look, 27,000 were still housed at temporary flood shelters across 9 states.  

Terengganu had the highest number of evacuees, at over 7,000, while there are 5,000 flood victims in Perak.  

Selangor, Perlis, Kedah and Kelantan reported 3,000-plus flood victims each, and the remainder are in Pahang, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka.

Police have arrested a man accused of molesting a teenaged flood victim at a relief centre in Bachok, Kelantan.  

The suspect has since been remanded for five days to assist in investigations.

MetMalaysia has confirmed that Tropical Storm Senyar has died down, hours after making landfall between Selangor and Negeri Sembilan last night.  

Meanwhile, a new tropical depression has been detected near Kuantan, Pahang, which could bring continuous heavy rain, strong winds and rough seas over the South China Sea.

The Election Commission is targeting a lower voter turnout of 60% for the Sabah state election, as wet weather could have an impact on the number of people who will cast their ballots. 

And depending on the weather, the commission expects to announce the first election results by 10pm tomorrow.

And the death toll from the recent massive apartment fires in Hong Kong has now risen to 128.  

At least 79 people are confirmed to have been injured, while dozens of other residents are still missing.
