The Transport Ministry is urging developers to reduce the number of parking spaces in new housing projects near public transport systems.

It explained that the current requirement of one or two parking bays per residential unit was among the factors contributing to higher property prices.

The ministry adds that reducing parking spots would also encourage more residents to use public transport.
