kkm: tighter rules to control medical inflation

The Health Ministry is taking further steps to deal with the issue of rising private healthcare costs.  

This includes tightening its regulations on overcharging among private hospitals.  

KKM explained that currently, the law only regulates private consultation and procedural fees. 

It's now looking at amending the relevant laws, so that it can better regulate other costs like medicine and equipment fees.

Police are seeking the MCMC's help to identify the individuals who made death threats against a lawyer working on the recent triple-shooting in Melaka.  

This, after the lawyer lodged a complaint after receiving the threats on social media.  

The case involves three people who were shot and killed by police, with cops claiming that they opened fire after being attacked by one of the suspects.  

However, this is being disputed by the trio's families.

The Works Ministry wants people with any info to come forward, over the removal of barriers and warning signs on a road in Terengganu that was closed off due to a landslide.  

2 people died there recently, after their car entered the road and plunged down a ravine.

Several secondary schools in Melaka have already installed metal detectors to help prevent students from bringing in contraband items such as mobile phones. 

The state education dept says this is part of 13 initiatives being taken to improve school safety and improve student discipline.

The Padang Serai MP has pleaded NOT guilty in court to a charge of abetting corruption in a cattle farming project owned by the Kedah state govt.  

He's accused of conspiring with a businessman, who was charged with two counts of soliciting and receiving a RM400,000 kickback.
