pm announces major cabinet reshuffle

Today's Cabinet reshuffle was more extensive than expected. 

This, affter the PM previously hinted at only a few changes, mainly to fill in some vacancies. 

Among the changes, he announced new ministers for Economy; Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability; and Investment Trade and Industry. 

- Economy: Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir

- Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability: Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup

- MITI: Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani

- Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives: Steven Sim  

Sim's current position as HR Minister has been handed to PKR vice-president Datuk Seri R. Ramanan.    

This, following the resignations of Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad and Datuk Ewon Benedick. 

Meanwhile, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz stepped down at the end of his second term as a senator.

Another major change saw two current Cabinet ministers being dropped 

They are Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zaleha Mustafa, who is replaced by current Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh. 

Meanwhile Datuk Dr Naím Mokhtar has been replaced by his deputy, Dr Zulkifli Hasan.  

As a result, Sungai Petani MP Dr Taufiq Johari will replace Hannah as the Youth and Sports Minister.  

Among other changes, Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying has been appointed Deputy Minister for Women, Family and Community Development. 

Newly appointed ministers and deputy ministers will be sworn-in at Istana Negara tomorrow.
