Najib's Home Detention Bid Rejected
Dec 22, 2025

Former PM Datuk Seri Najib Razak has lost his bid to serve the remainder of his jail sentence at home.
This, after the KL High Court rejected his application, saying that a royal addendum on the matter was not discussed or approved by the pardons board.
Najib's legal team confirmed that they will lodge an appeal, and are prepared to take it all the way to the federal court.
His lawyers have also discussed a few alternative plans, including parole, or submitting another pardon application.
However, they've yet to get specific instructions from their client.
Najib is halfway through completing his shortened 6-year jail sentence for abuse of power, criminal breach of trust, and money laundering involving SRC International funds.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Communications Minister has rebuked an international news agency that wrongly reported that Najib had won the case.
The agency has since issued a correction.

This was confirmed by the KL Police Chief, who said that the victim's family had lodged a report yesterday.
This, after the teacher was arrested on Saturday for the alleged sexual assault of an 11-year-old pupil at a school in Kampung Pandan.
He's being remanded until Thursday for further investigations.
