Thumbs Up For PM Term Limit Proposal

Bersih has welcomed the proposal to limit the Prime Minister’s tenure to two terms, calling it a major step towards strengthening governance.
The electoral reform group says this can not only reduce the risk of abuse of power, but also encourage prime ministers to implement policies and programs more efficiently.
Bersih adds that a term limit could also open opportunities for younger political leaders…enabling new talent to emerge on the national stage.
This, after Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday announced plans for several institutional reforms, including limiting the PM to a 10-year term and separating the roles of the attorney general and public prosecutor.

Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad has been admitted into IJN, after suffering a fall at his home early this morning.
The matter has been confirmed by the former Prime Minister’s press secretary.
The 100-year-old is currently being monitored, with a statement about his condition to be released soon.

In a related development, police have managed to bust 97 online scams across KL last year, while also arresting over a thousand individuals, including foreign nationals.
Those detained were working for syndicates involved in offences like fake job offers, and fraudulent cryptocurrency investment schemes.
