Most parts of peninsular Malaysia, especially the northern region, are expected to experience hot and dry weather until this Saturday.

The Met Department adds that wind patterns are also expected to bring thunderstorms and heavy rain to parts of Sabah and Sarawak during the same period.

Its advising the public to stay vigilant, and to frequently check on the latest weather conditions via the official department channels.

The social media ban on Malaysian teens could kick in by the middle of the year.

The Deputy Communications Minister says efforts are underway to have the restriction enforced as early as July.

The move, which will bar those below the age of 16 from opening social media accounts, is aimed at strengthening online safety for minors.

Malaysians who make more than eight monthly trips into Singapore are not eligible for Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah.

According to the Deputy Finance Minister…this is because the Inland Revenue Board considers these individuals to be working abroad.

However, those who have valid reasons for their frequent trips to the republic can submit an appeal to get access to the STR.

There’s been a slight decline in the number of those applying for civil service jobs…going down from 1.2 million applications in 2024…to around a million last year.

Despite this, the Public Service Department is targeting to appoint some 30 thousand civil servants this year, to replace retiring officers and meet the government’s operational requirements.

The Batu Caves temple trustee is expecting the extended holiday to contribute to over 2.5 million visitors for this year’s Thaipusam celebration.

He says they’re also working closely with police to oversee all security and crowd control matters.
