Cabinet Talks On PM Term Limit Today
Jan 30, 2026

The Cabinet is set to hold talks today, to determine the policy direction of the proposal to limit the term of the Prime Minister.
The de-facto Law Minister says once agreed on, it will then be presented to all Members of Parliament for a comprehensive debate and discussion.
Meanwhile, nearly nine out of ten respondents to a government survey fully support imposing a term limit for the PM.
Most, however, favoured a two-term limit rather than a 10-year maximum, which may require the PM to resign immediately upon hitting the maximum number of years…even if Parliament has yet to be dissolved.
