kl flash flooding due to unusual heavy rain

The Environment and Water Minister says the flash flooding in KL was due to unusual heavy rain.

Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man says existing drainage systems were unable to contain rapidly rising floodwaters, which rose after only two hours.

He adds that all flood control systems under the KL Department of Irrigation and Drainage have since been mobilised.

More recoveries than daily COVID-19 infections

The number of COVID-19 recoveries has once again surpassed daily infections.

Yesterday, more than 30,000 patients recovered compared to 26,856 new cases.

Daily infections also dropped by over 500 cases from the previous day.

Meanwhile, a further 77 COVID fatalities were reported nationwide, including 26 brought in dead cases.

Sabahans urged to get COVID booster shot

Residents in Sabah have been urged to get their COVID-19 booster shot before the reopening of international borders.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin says it's due to fears of being exposed to the virus with the arrival of foreign visitors from Indonesia and the Philippines.

The Prime Minister is expected to make an announcement on the reopening of borders soon.
