Dummy Buckles To Face Import Ban

Jul 02, 2025

dummy buckles to face import ban

The government will ban the IMPORT of seatbelt dummy buckles starting December 31st.

The ban will cover the import of any devices that can disable the car alarm that sounds whenever a seatbelt is left unfastened.

Recently, the Transport Ministry said it would work with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living to ban such sales, amid concerns about their threat to road safety.

This, as nearly 30% traffic summonses issued during a Chinese New Year Operation in Negeri Sembilan were for the use of dummy buckles.

Negeri Sembilan will start enforcing a ban on drinking in public places, with offenders facing a RM2,000 fine.

The Menteri Besar said this, following complaints about alcohol consumption at recreational parks, children’s playgrounds, and beaches, especially at night.

He says it's to ensure that such places remain family-friendly.

Members of the public should lodge an immediate complaint if they see any unreasonable price hikes due to the SST expansion.

Govt spokesman, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said this, as the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry launched a special operation to help prevent cases of profiteering...

The SST expansion came into effect yesterday.

A group representing Putra Heights residents have called for an independent probe into the gas pipeline explosion there.

This is after police classified the case as No Further Action, after failing to find any elements of negligence or sabotage.
