acg denies allegations of irregularities

The Attorney General’s Chambers has dismissed allegations of irregularities and delays in judicial appointments.

It says the current process is proceeding in accordance with the Federal Constitution, and also rubbished suggestions of a crisis.

The AGC said this in response to demands for a Royal Commission of Inquiry and a parliamentary select committee hearing…following delays in the appointment of top judicial positions, including the chief justice.

The Trump administration has slapped a 25% tariff on all Malaysian products entering the US, effective August 1st

This is up from the earlier-imposed rate of 24 percent. 

Trump suggested that we can avoid the new tariff by encouraging companies to manufacture in the US. 

He also warned of the possibility of even higher tariffs, if the Malaysian government raises its own trade barriers.

A Sarawak state minister has eased concerns about the setting of seat boundaries, following the decision to increase the number of state seats to 99.

The state minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts says only the Election Commission, and not the state government, has the authority to determine how seats are mapped and adjusted…dismissing opposition claims of possible gerrymandering.

The first phase rollout of the diagnosis-related group or DRG payment model, is planned for next year.

The Health Ministry says the implementation will be done gradually…starting with minor cases before being expanded to more complex ones.

Under the DRG payment model, hospital patients will be categorized into groups based on their condition…with a fixed payment rate assigned to each of these groups.

The upcoming Asean Summit that’s scheduled to take place in KL this October, is set to be one of the largest in the grouping’s history. 

Prime Minister Datuk Sri Anwar Ibrahim says several heads of government from outside Asean have confirmed their attendance at the summit, including the Italian Prime Minister and Brazilian President.
