Outsiders Blamed For Kg Sungai Baru Clash

Sep 12, 2025

outsiders blamed for kg sungai baru clash

The Federal Territories Minister says yesterday's eviction clash in KL's Kampung Sungai Baru had nothing to do with the enclave's residents.

Instead, she blamed it on outsiders who had their own agenda.

The minister has also rejected attempts to insert racial issues into the matter.

Meanwhile, a group representing Kg Sungai Baru residents has also distanced itself from the violence.

The scuffle broke out as cops were enforcing a court-ordered eviction, to make way for a redevelopment plan.

A senior police officer was injured, reportedly after an object struck his head.

Search teams have recovered the body of a 97-year-old man who killed in a landslide in Penampang, Sabah.

Earlier reports said that the victim was buried after the landslide struck his home following heavy rain last night.

Meanwhile according to the Social Welfare Dept's portal, just over 400 people have been taken to temporary flood shelters in Penampang and Beaufort.

MetMalaysia has issued a heavy rain and thunderstorm alert until 8PM tonight for Kudat and the West Coast and Interior of Sabah.

A similar alert is also in place for KL and parts of Selangor, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Sarawak.

Terengganu, Johor and Negeri Sembilan are the happiest states in Malaysia.

This is according to the Dept of Statistics’ 2024 Malaysia Happiness Index, which measures physical, social, emotional and spiritual happiness.

The Happiness survey also named Kluang, Johor is the happiest district nationwide, ahead of Raub, Pahang, and Mersing, Johor.

The survey also revealed that women reported higher happiness levels than men, while the happiest age group were youths between 15 to 19.
