Surge In Part-Time Job Scams

Dec 19, 2025

surge in part-time job scams

Authorities have noticed a surge in part-time job scams this year!

According to Bukit Aman, over 8,000 of such cases were reported as of last Sunday.

It's two-and-a-half times more than the number of cases reported for the whole of 2024.

Victims of part-time job scams registered losses of RM202 million.

In light of this, The Commercial Crimes Department reminded the public that genuine employers will never ask applicants to make any upfront payments.

It also urged the public to exercise caution, avoid sharing personal or banking info with strangers, and to immediately report any suspected scams to the police.

The Highway Authority says it expects up to 2.6 million vehicles are expected to be on major highways per day during the Christmas holiday period.

It adds it expects highway traffic volume to surge starting today, especially on routes heading North and South, and to the East Coast.

--

To ensure smooth traffic flow, it has instructed all highway concessionaires to make the necessary preparations.

This includes ensuring that there are no lane closures and activating smart lanes at 30 locations on PLUS highways.

--

Also, the Highway Authority has welcomed the govt’s announcement of a 50% toll discount over the Christmas holiday period.

The discount, on December 23rd and 24th, will apply to private vehicles at all toll plazas except at border entry points.
