Parents Must Help Kids Get Off Social Media

Dec 21, 2025

parents must help kids get off social media

Parents must take the initiative to wean their kids off social media, when the ban for under-16s comes into force next year.

The National Union of the Teaching Profession says teenagers will need parental guidance to help them adjust, after spending years in front of their phones.

It told FMT that among other things, parents can encourage their kids to take part in healthy activities such as sports and social gatherings.

The under-16 social media ban is aimed at curbing cybercrime, protecting minors from sexual predators, and reducing unregulated exposure to online content.

The flood situation in Pahang and Terengganu is improving.

According to JKM’s portal, the number of evacuees in Pahang has dropped to below 4,000, compared to around 5,000 earlier today.

Meanwhile, over 200 people are still displaced in Kemaman and Dungun, Terengganu.

--

People have been told NOT to politicise the delivery of food aid to flood victims during the first day of evacuations in Pahang.

The Sultan of Pahang says the delays were due to the sudden nature of the floods.

31 Malaysian victims of online scams in Myanmar have safely returned to Malaysia.

They arrived at the Bukit Kayu Hitam immigration complex last night, before being handed over to the police to help with investigations.

--

Cops believe that a financial dispute may have been the motive for the killing of a woman, whose body was found stuffed inside a bag in Negeri Sembilan recently.

So far, two people have been arrested over the case, and cops are looking for three others who may have been involved.
