October target for full implementation of flood warning system

Jan 09, 2017

The govt is optimistic that its planned Flood Forecast and Warning Programme will be fully operational by October.

The Natural Resources and Environment Ministry says the system is 50 percent complete, with the pilot project to be implemented in Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan.

When it's completed, the system will be able to predict possible floods a couple of days in advance, with an accuracy rate of 95 percent.

This, as the East Coast recovered from its latest round of flooding, after all remaining evacuees in Kelantan and Terengganu were allowed to return home.
