Nov 30, 2017
Parliament will not debate the findings of the Royal Commission of Inquiry, into Bank Negara's forex losses in the 1990s.
The Dewan Rakyat Speaker says, it's because no motion was filed to debate the report, which was submitted today, the last day of the current sitting.
The RCI's report recommended action against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his role in the scandal.
It its report tabled in Parliament, the RCI says it believes that Anwar, who was Finance Minister at the time, misled the Cabinet and concealed the actual losses suffered by the central bank.
The RCI also believes that the then-PM, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, had approved Anwar’s “misleading statements”.
