Nov 20, 2016
Several areas in Perak have been hit by flash floods, following about 2 hours of rain this morning.
Among the areas affected are Gerik, Lenggong and Batu Gajah, but no evacuation centers have been opened.
The Fire and Rescue Department says the floodwaters in parts of Gerik rose up to chest level.
Over in Penang, the floodwaters brought on by 6 hours of rain this morning, are said to have receded.
Both the island and mainland were affected.
A highway intersection at Sungai Dua and Permatang Pauh, off the North South Expressway, has reopened, after being temporarily cut off due to the floods.
Elsewhere, 3 cars have been damaged, after being burried under mud and rocks when heavy rain caused a landslide in Taman Bukit Cheras, KL.
However, no one was injured.
This, as the Met Department has warned of thunderstorms and rain nationwide for the next 5 days, particularly in the afternoon and evening.
A flood warning has been issued for Sabah.
Officials have also issued a caution about excessive rainfall in parts of the Kinta Valley in Perak.
