Zii Jia Marches Into Olympics QF

Lee Zii Jia has marched into the quarterfinals at the Paris Olympics.
The men’s singles shuttler overcame a late fightback from Toma Junior Popov, to beat the home favourite in straight sets.
Zii Jia admits he was taken aback by the partisan French supporters, but managed to regain his composure to get the win.
Next up for the Malaysian will be a clash against world number three Anders Antonsen of Denmark.
Meanwhile, compatriots Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik are through to the men’s doubles semifinals for the second Olympics in a row after a gruelling three-sets win over S. Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty of India.
Aaron and Wooi Yik will next face top seeds Liang Wei Keng-Wang Chang of China for a place in the final.

Elsewhere in Paris…Andy Murray’s career has come to an end, after the three-time Grand Slam winner and his partner Dan Evans lost in the quarterfinals of the tennis doubles event.
The Olympics are Murray’s final appearance before retiring from the sport.

While US swimmer Katie Ledecky has become America’s most decorated female Olympian, after picking up her 13th career medal by helping her team take silver in the women’s 4x200m relay.
