Azizul Rides To Keirin Gold

National cyclist Datuk Azizulhasni Awang has won the men’s Keirin title at the UCI Nations Cup in Australia.

The Pocket Rocketman fended off a strong challenge from two Japanese riders, to pick up his first gold medal of the year.

It also boosts Azizul’s chances of qualifying for this year’s Paris Olympics.

Iran netted an injury-time winner from the penalty spot…to pull off an upset 2-1 win over the more fancied Japan in the Asian Cup quarterfinals.

The Iranians will next face hosts and defending champions Qatar, who booked their place in the semis with a 3-2 penalty shootout win over Uzbekistan after the game finished 1-1 at the end of extra time.
